Welcome to the South Central Recycling Association of Massachusetts (SCRAM) Inc. web site. SCRAM is
a nonprofit corporation dedicated to the promotion of sustainable methods of managing solid waste.
Our association started in November of 1990 to bring the region's recycling volunteers together to
share information about starting municipal recycling programs. For ten years we have continued to
run meetings across the Central Massachusetts region bringing up-to-date information to our members
on a wide array of solid waste management issues from recycling to hazardous waste collections.
Our current Director, John Alphin, has over a dozen years experience in providing solid waste
management technical assistance to municipalities, schools and businesses. He is frequently asked
to present information at conferences about the work we are doing here in Central Massachusetts and
to provide technical assistance to the region.
Details about our past meetings, campaigns and technical assistance programs can be found in the Newsletter section of this website. SCRAM has been a leader in developing programs for municipalities and businesses covering numerous solid waste issues like buying recycled products, chemical management in schools, regional paint and hazardous material collections. Many of our programs have been copied successfully across the state and that is our intent for sharing this information on our website.
We look forward to serving the region for another ten years and we recognize the potential of this website in our future work. Please feel free to contact us with your needs and ideas about how SCRAM can better serve you.
